Timing Belt Replacement

If you think of the components under the bonnet as an orchestra, the timing belt is the conductor. If it isn’t functioning properly, the ‘orchestra’ goes out of tune.

Lifespans vary, depending on the vehicle, and most manufacturers have recommended replacement interval – usually around 60km or five years.

When should you replace your Timing Belt?

• See your owners’ manual for manufacturer’s recommendation.

• If you know your car’s service history, you can work out when it is next due for replacement.

• Don’t leave it too long. Problems with the Timing Belt can lead to expensive maintenance work – even engine replacement.

• If you’re in any doubt, give South Dublin Automotive a call. We’d be happy to advise.
